Oil Price

Queued for 45 min last night to pump the petrol for my parent's car. The announcement of the petrol hike came as a very shocking new to everybody. An increase of 40%!! Imagine that. And when CAN my salary increase by that much? In 10 years time? Crazy ah?!

And i think i can become the fortune teller for now. My prediction:- With the increase of petrol, the price for EVERYTHING from food to transport to accommodation WILL INCREASE too. (I can bet my Myvi on it, anyone on?) What is going on in this world right now? Is Pak Lah planning a grand step down? Crazy people!! I think if their brain is as big as their body, they can actually ride on a mice.

The hottest topic in the office today is apparently petrol price. Colleagues in my department is actually talking abt planting vegetables in their gardens and eating potatoes to replace rice!! Imagine that, I only heard about eating potatoes as the main course from my grandparents. And I actually thought that this will never ever going to happen at our age... But now, i positively think this scenario might actually happen.

What is going on right now?

Crazy people, crazy world.

There's nothing wrong about the fuel price hike. My contractor just came back from Taiwan saying that Taiwanese is surviving on NTD31.00 per litre of petrol (equivalent to RM3.10). Ours is RM2.70, still quite OK.

The only thing is learning how to survive under such situation. I did a calculation for my own situation, I spend 32% of my salary on fuel and car installment, 25% of my salary for house installment, I still have 43% to live with. Food might only consume up to 20%. Where is the rest of the money?

To me, I think instead of blaming the government, why not we train ourself to live in such condition. Lets work hard together.

Goober, same here. It's too sudden.

Eskay, it's fine with the price hike but at least they can do it gradually right? Rather than implement it overnight with such a high percentage. The resident's is already plague by overall food price increase which happened not long ago, what they can do to smooth the anger/depression is at least to do it with a bit of courtesy right? I strongly recommend them to study psychology.

Learning how to manage with the situation is a must with the current situation. And by doing so, we are actually lowering our living standard, which in my opinion, means we are actually not developing but moving backward.

Rainbow,
I agree with your response to Eskay!

I mean if we have to, of course we will survive but we cant compare ourselves with Taiwan just based on petrol. Should also compare based on income vs expenses and Taiwanese are earning much more than us!

I also agree that the govt should not just pass the burden back to the rakyat all at one go! Oh, rephrase, pass so much at one time.

I heard that there will be another increase in Aug08!

why compare to taiwan & singapore? they are not country with fuel production. If u compare with those country which produce fuel, we are the highest. Our government had sold all the fuel and minerals we can get from the same piece of land we are staying on, in return what we get? Damaged living environment? The development remains the same, roads and education scheme are not really moving forward. Where the earning from the minerals goes to? At the end of the day, we pay expensive cost for the fuel, all goes to whose pocket?

The time has come. Where the poor will become poorer and the rich will become richer. The middle class people like us will either get pushed up to the upper income group or being downgraded to the lower income group.

This has been mentioned in the book "M-Shape Society" by a Japanese (I forgot his name) and "Why We Want You to Be Rich" by jointly by Robert T. Kiyosaki and Donald Trump.

At first I don't believe in such bull shit, but after thinking twice, don't we feel that life has become more and more difficult? Don't we feel that without the parents help, we can't even get our first house or first car? Don't we experience that no matter how much we earn, we hardly can have any savings?

In fact the whole world is facing this situation. Just that Malaysia, with their politicians are too busy with something else, so we hardly going through the medium class booming session like taiwan, japan and korea.

Applely's statement is fantastic. Yes, we are oil production country, why on earth we have to suffer from high oil price. Or, shall I restructure the question to :"where on earth are those subsidizes?"

Well, ask our PM lor...

Anyway, be prepare, one day, we have to leave this country.

Jen, true. I heard that by Aug the petrol price will increase base on the market price. And the government will only be able to subsidy 30cent. That's all!

Imagine tat. 2x increase in a year... And I guess the overall increase might actually reach 50%. How about our salary? Does it increase this much? I only got 4% increment nia le.. how to survive?

Applely, it's a fact in our country that it's super corrupted. And those having power over this country is the one getting the most benefit of all our trouble.

I had to agree with Eskay. If this continue, we have to leave this country sooner or later.
