TAO~

Been to Tao? Well, i had been there several time. The environment there is quite cosy, like many of this similar type of get-around place that seems to be very popular in Kch. Basically the interior design of this drinking place is tied to it's name, which is Tao. Inside this shop, the decoration is mainly about Buddhisms or taoism. And there is quite a few of Buddha's statues. Here's an example of one.

Basically the shop only opens during night time. Mostly the shops sell drinks and cakes. For those who is celebrating their birthday, this shop will give a free cake if provided that you show them your IC. ^_^

Hmm.. Actually the prices there is not cheap. One cup of Ice Chocolate can costs you around RM11. However, this shop does provide you board games and card games to play with while you sit there cosily, chit chatting with your fren and sipping on a nice cup of drink.

These lanterns are located above me from where i sit. Hehe..

This view is exactly in front from where i sit. =)

The HISTORY of the middle finger

Haha.. My fren sent me an interesting email yesterday.. and i think it's educational, since it told the history of the middle finger and the real meaning of the middle finger. ^_*

Here's the history:

Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers.
Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapablt of fighting in the future.
This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as "plucking the yew" or "pluck yew".
Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying,
"See, we can still pluck yew!"

Since "pluck yew" is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative "F", and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute!
If is because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as "giving the bird". It is STILL an appropriote salute to the French today.

And yew thought yew knew every plucking thing!

Oops.. The last sentence is not said by me, k? ^^

Macau RM39.99

I read in the newspaper yesterday. Airasia is introducing new flight and that flight is from Kuching (KIA) to Macau!! At the price as low as RM39.99. Wow!! This is really a very good offer. This morning a friend from Miri called me up. Asking me if i wanna go Macau for a holiday? Of course i say yes lor.. and i invite Cheryl and Nick to go along too. Hehe..

But during lunch time he feedback that the air ticket from 1-10 Oct all is booked already. The only available ticket is after 14-Oct. Well, we haven't finalised anything at the moment. But hopefully i can go Macau sight seeing and enjoying myself. Lunch time, Hui Sze and Nick talked about a hotel at Macau. Now, let me recall, I think it's call Wynn Hotel. And later in the afternoon, Hui Sze sent out an email regarding that hotel's opening ceremony. Here is it, it's superb.

The Power of ONE

19-20 Oct, I am force by my company to attend a motivational talk, the power of one given by Dato Lawrence Chan. The venue is at Camp Permai. All the previous team go to Santubong resort, only us is the "LUCKY" team.

This is the first time i went to Camp Permai. Before i go, I heard from some of my colleagues that it is surrounded by forest and there is basically no facilities since the purpose of this camp is to let the residents go back to mother nature. The first thing my colleagues warn me is that there is a lot of mosqitoes there. So, as you can imagine, i had no fancy idea about this trip, except that i don't need to work on Friday. Hehe...

So, let me show you what does Camp Permai looks like. Basically, it is like living in the forest.

This is the wooden road towards the cabins.

And there is actually beach besides it. Nevertheless, i don't really have time to go take a long luxury walk along the beach. The only time i can play at the beach is on Saturday morning during the game playing session.

The beach

This is the cabin where i stay with other colleagues, Michaelina, Yvonne and Molly. It is really like living in the urban area, there is no air-con, no telephone line and no TV. But luckily there is water heater. At least i don't have to bathe using cold water. hehe... But if i had the chance to go there next time, i would prefer to stay at the Tree House. Well, since i am living inside the forest, why not really experience how does it feels like living at a Tree House. Some more, it looks much cool... Hehe...

Our cabin, number 18. This is the view outside from our sitting room. This is the Tree House that i will want to stay "IF" i will come here to stay again.

There is a lot of physically facilities available at Camp Permai, namely, the wall climbing, kayaking, and a lot of outdoors extreme activities. Nevertheless, i only took photo of the wall climbing since the time is limited and 90% of the time there is spent in the conference room.

Sarawak LAKSA!! 1st time

Hmm... To be precise, I am 25 years 3 months and 13 days today. If I am to tell you that I never tasted Sarawak Laksa before even though i am born and raised in Sarawak, most of my friends are basically SHOCKED! Haha... Is it really that funny/weird that i never really tasted laksa before? And Cheryl say, "Yes, u had wasted ur life by not trying on the food" ~_~

So today, dear dear said lunch we go SCR to eat laksa and i MUST order one and eat it today. (Basically she forced me) Haha.. you know lah.. i cannot say no to my dear dear one... So during lunch all of us, ^_^ order laksa. I never really ask them to accompany me but they all ordered laksa anyway. And when the food arrived, dear dear thaught me THE way of eating Laksa. First, you have to picit the lemon into the sambal. Then you poured all the sambal into the laksa and mixed it. Then, it-ta-ta-ki-mas. It's time to eat your laksa.

Haha... 9-Oct-2007, this is the date that I ceased to become a Laksa Virgin. Indeed it's a day to remember....

This is my first bowl of Laksa.

Igloo~

Even though i never really been to very fancy places or overseas but i do have a small objective in my life. Hehe... that is, since i am in Kuching now and am stuck here for don't know how many years... i plan to go and try out all the nice places and foods available in Kch. hehe...

There's two igloo in Kch, one is situated beside 4th mile Everise and the other one is situated at King Centre. Yesterday i went to the one situated at King Centre since i went to 4th mile one before. Basically the decor inside igloo is very much the same for the two shops. The main colour is white and blue, making the environment inside feels cool... And there is bottles of flowers on one side of the wall, which is quiet pretty in my opinion. At igloo, we choose to sit at the kid's corner and order basically, ice. hehe...

This is how igloo looks like on the inside

The counter

Kiddy's corner where i sat

There is 4 different type of ice, namely milk ice, peanut ice, strawberry ice and green tea ice. For me, i prefer peanut ice together with chocolate chips. =D but yesterday i ordered milk ice with marie cookies (Pic below). Hehe... Still yummy nevertheless.

Mount Santubong Climbing Experience

When I browse through my friend's blog, available at Friends and Family column on your right, I am so jealous when i saw chubby mike going to Bangkok and that ah moi Joseph actually got the chance to go to Hong Kong!! Where as for me the furthest trip that i had ever had in my life is only Singapore which is only happening this year. *_* Then i search through franticly for any special places that i had been and ... this, is what i can find.

The location:- Mount Santubong located in Kuching, my hometown, which can be reached in 1 hour plus of car ride. Lol... Aww... I make myself sound so small but nevertheless, i feel proud of myself for being able to make it to the top. ^_^

hmm.. can't really remember when is the trip, but it's on a nice Saturday morning. Our gang (7 persons) gathered together then went to Santubong in two cars, reaching Santubong around 9.45am in the morning. Without any delay we start climbing the mountain. I never really knew that climbing in 45 degree vertically can demand so much of my physical strength. But since it's only within one hour of the climb, i don't really dare to complain too much, but nevertheless after one hour of climbing, i start to voice out that i will never be able to make it to the top of the mountain.
Pit #1

There is 3 pits along the climb for ppl to take a rest. When reaching Pit #1, i am super happy. And i told my mountain climbing mate that i will stay at this pit and wait for them to climb up to the top and down again. Haha.. I was really out of breath when i reach Pit #1. But i never knew all of my friends are so enthusiastic. They actually motivate me to move up to at least reach Pit #2. Ellee even gave me his red bull drink so that i might have the energy to climb up the rest of the mountain. =P

Since all my friend ask me to continue, so i just continue the second part of my climbing. The second part is much much more interesting. There's rope tied around the trees for us to use it in our climbing. The second part is much much more easier than the first part, mainly because there's rope to assist me. So, when they told me that the third part to reach the top is only 30 min from Pit #2, I decide to climb up to the top. The third part of the mountain climbing involves ladder that is one storey to two storey high. Wakau.. when i climb, i can feel my legs shaking a bit, but not as much as when i climb down from the mountain top.

Saw the blue rope besides us? That's the rope we used to pull ourselves up the mountain.
See it? I am at Pit #2 now. Only 45 min to go to the top of the mountain.

It took us 7.5 hours for the whole trip, 3.5 hours up and 4 hours down. By the time we reach our cars, my legs are sore and basically can't move anymore. Although tiring, but i still feel proud that i was able to climb to the top (even though I am label as "Z bottleneck" as I am the one that lagging behind due to my lack of physical fitness)

Finally reaching the mountain top. Superb!

Taking group photo as a souvenir that we really reached the top of Mount Santubong. Next target:- Mount Kinabalu.

1-Oct~ A new month

Getting Monday blues... No mood to do my work. keke~ That's why i am writing in my blog currently, with my big boss right behind in the next cubicle talking to other colleagues. Hehe... but don't care lah.. yesterday after church being called back to do presentation slide for him because customer visit.

Hmm... planning to cut my hair short this week. But i'm not sure whether i will regret my decision later or not.. but dun care lah.. just tied up into a pony tail. Soon my hair will grow longer.

Now, anything new or not... let me think *thinking hard*. Recently life is a little bit boring. But nevertheless i still find time to go shopping. lol.. bought a new skirt. =D Oh ya, i just finish reading a book titled " The little prince". Basically it's a short story book with fairy tale like story. It's about the author meeting this little prince who is come from a planet far far away and that things in his planet is all small. What's special about this book is that it slips in the reality of the grown up world and some of the behaviour that we are so familiar with that the corner of your mouth will turn when u read it. =)
